Perhaps the most contested and controversial rezoning vote of the past decade was denied by the Forsyth County Commissioners Thursday night.
Commissioners Linda Ledbetter and Charles Laughinghouse read prepared statements regarding the specific issues that led to the denial of this request, and asked that these comments be included in the public record.
Among the items mentioned in the statements were:
-Impact of 3500 additional car trips per day on Buford Dam Road
-No proposed road improvements short term or long term that would satisfy the burden of traffic
-Inappropriate densities
-No conditional use permit for a continuing care retirement center.

I am very happy to hear that the rezoning was denied. Developers have built far beyond what the infrastructure can maintain and they seem to be working over time to destroy the county. At least we now get a reprieve.
