On May 13, 2008, the Rotary Club of Johns Creek’s will host the second annual golf tournament at the Laurel Springs Golf Club which will continue its commitment to children around the world. In keeping with Rotary International’s theme “ROTARYSHARES”, the Johns Creek Club will raise funds to support three children’s causes within the community:
• CASA provides trained volunteers to represent the best interest of a child in juvenile court when the child has been removed from his/her home for neglect or abuse.
• Jesse’s House provides a temporary emergency home for girls who are at risk emotionally, physically or mentally.
• Bald Ridge Lodge will provide a temporary emergency home for boys who are at risk emotionally, physically or mentally. Internationally, the club supports Orphan Concern International, which seeks to help orphans who are displaced and Polio Plus a program expected to eradicate polio worldwide in a few years.
Presenting sponsor Northside Hospital-Forsyth has taken the lead again to raise awareness of children’s needs by supporting the Club’s fundraising efforts. “We are proud to be able to support organizations in our community whose mission is to enhance the lives of those who live and work in the communities we serve. The Rotary Clubs have been very generous to children in our communities, and we appreciate the opportunity to help,” says Kelli Buchwald, Northside Hospital-Forsyth Community Relations Manager.
Sponsorships for the tournament are available ranging from $400 and up, teams of four are $750,and an individual player costs $200. A box lunch, beverages and dinner are included in the ticket price. The community is also invited to the awards dinner at the Laurel Springs Golf Clubhouse for $35 per ticket.
With over 30 teams expected to participate, format for the tournament is a scramble with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. Pre-tournament activities, including a silent auction and chair massages, will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at the awards dinner.
The silent auction will feature premium items such as a trip to Alaska to experience the beautiful Northern Lights, LASIK eye surgery, a suite box for a Gwinnett Gladiators game, Braves tickets and golf packages for four from several well-know golf clubs.
