After over 30 years of stellar work as an educator and over 10 years as a principal in Forsyth County, and the last four years as principal of West Forsyth High School, Mr. Richard Gill has announced his retirement effective September 1, 2011.
“The leadership that Mr. Gill has provided in our district has been impressive, particularly as he has worked to establish WFHS as an outstanding school in Georgia,” stated Superintendent L.C. (Buster) Evans. “I wish to commend Mr. Gill for his work and wish him the very best as he transitions into retirement and future life opportunities.”
Dr. Evans will be recommending to the Forsyth County Board of Education that veteran educator, Ms. Betty Pope, serve as Acting West Forsyth High School Principal.
“Ms. Pope is a respected educator in our district with experience that includes work at North Forsyth High School, South Forsyth High School, and the past four years at West Forsyth High School where she has been largely involved in the planning and implementation of a quality learning environment,” stated Evans. “We are confident that Ms. Pope, and the strong and experienced leadership team at WFHS, will continue to build the tradition of excellence with which this school has come to be recognized for. I know that you will want to join me in both honoring Mr. Gill for his many years of service in our district as well as to offer your support of Ms. Pope as she assumes the primary leadership role at West Forsyth High School.”
