At their November 17 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners presented Resolutions of recognition to Jayne Iglesias and David Seago for their efforts to educate citizens about the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VII program.
Iglesias and Seago served as co-chairs of the citizens advocacy group called Citizens for Progress. As such, they served as liaisons between community leaders, industry experts and the taxpayers, working to educate voters about SPLOST VII. The Resolutions commended the efforts and dedication of Iglesias and Seago.
SPLOST VII was approved by Forsyth County voters on November 8.

Disgusting! The BoC recognizing two Socialists.
Two Socialists that lied to the citizens of this county on multi occasions, in the print media and in person. They lied about the 40% claim, job creations, etc.
Yet, this BoC honors the Socialist liars and mentions nothing about the group who actually educated the citizens with the truth - Forsyth County Tea Party.
These men sitting on this BoC are unprincipled and not worthy of any respect. Remember this insult and kick them from office. Then forever make sure their names are spoken of with disrespect for generations.
This country is done Bill. I can assure you that money from SPLOST is LOST and is going into the pockets of the elected RULERS.
This country is done Bill. I can assure you that money from SPLOST is LOST and is going into the pockets of the elected RULERS.
How about starting a petetion drive for next Nov to replace Property taxes with SPLOST and also require a 2/3rds voting approval of all tax payers to pass any [ST]PLOST ?
The only thing we need from Govt is security, everything else is wealth distribution.
This county is supposed to be one of the most conservative counties in the nation. Wake up folks. Any organization that has the title "__ for Progress" should immediately raise red flags (and I do mean "red"). This is not hyperbole...dig deep, look at history from reliable sources for the last one hundred years. There is a solution to this: pay attention and get involved by holding your elected officials truly accountable. If they cannot control themselves and stick to the "proper" role of government - VOTE THEM ALL OUT!
Bill, did you just get back from the Waffle HOuse up there in Towns county? I'm going to stick with the election process for now. The majority of the voters passed the splost. Some who represented the Tea Party spread misinformation, too....probably cost the election. And who did pay for those anti-robocalls (we know that the Chamber paid for pro-robocalls because that group followed the law and reported themselves) - and how can I get my name off robocall lists?!
George,
The robo-calls, billboard and "Vote No" signs opposing splost were all paid for by prvate citizens acting on their own. There was no organization collecting funds to oppose splost. They were not required to file with the state to exercise their right to free speech.
While the Citizens for Progress were required to file because they collected money from all the construction companies and politicos that will now benefit from splost.
George Stateson you factually incorrect. 504 net voters put debt and tax on 54,500 households or 175,000 citizens in this county. There are ~130,000 registered voters in Forsyth; 13,146 voted or 10%. the net 504 represents .4% of the total voting public.
The majority did not say YES; .4% put tax and debt on 99.6% of the people of this county. That is Socialism, re distribution of wealth ... That George Stateson is theft by the few of the many.
David Seago and Jayne Iglesias are radical extreme leftist Socialists. Todd Levent, Brian Tam, Pete Amos, Patrick Bell, and Jim Boff have thrown in with them. Birds of a feather flock together and they are flocking right now to left wing Socialism. I'll bet everyone of these people voted for Obama.
Bill - chill pill, please. I am factually correct . A majority of those who voted, voted FOR the splost. Those who did not vote are not voters whether they are ELIGIBLE to vote or not.
In our representative republic, "we" (those who choose to vote) elected those officials who thought we should do this splost, they then put it before the voters. The chamber marshaled thier forces, the tea party marshaled theirs (and both spread the bs). Voters chose...and you don't like it. Run for office, don't buy stuff in Forsyth (and avoid the tax) but it is unbecoming of an intelligent man to moan and groan because the election didn't go his way.
@answer for George - thanks, that makes sense. I wish the chamber and private citizen would remove me from their robocall list!
George,
They probably got your number from the voter rolls. Just wait, next year is going to be a big election cycle. Your phone is going to be ringing off the hook.
Answer,
Owwww! thinking of dumping landline and being just cellular. do you think that'd work?
George Stateson this SPLOST vote was by definition was not conducted in a representative republic. In a representative republic we elect people to make tax and spend decisions.
This SPLOST was a vote of the mobocracy and a group will vote to do to their neighbors what they would never do alone.
Had the criminals sitting in the Commissioner seats came to their districts and ask their constituents then returned and voted, then it would be a representative republic. George you don't know what you are talking about and you should just shut your pie hole.
There is a Yiddish work for our BOC "SCHMUCK". And this is being nice!
You are a sick man, Bill...but I guess you already know that. Those you so easily besmirch WERE elected by the majority of those who voted. Then those elected officials voted to offer the splost, then the majority of voters who voted in the splost election voted FOR the splost....I count that as a double representative vote. Maybe you need a new neighborhood.
Maybe we should require every voter to vote in every election...no, wait, that was the process in the Soviet Socialist Union, wasn't it?
Jayne Iglesias and David Seago, co-chairs for Citizens for Progress, received recognition from county commission. Click link to watch.
I am asking George Statson for his reason not to up the sales tax to 15%? Why bust Bill? Why antagonize an issue so important? Do you back Brian Tam? Are you a liberal? Do you support higher taxes and larger administrative government?
Kev Out.
Kevin - sorry I don't mean to "bust" Bill. I'm not against his general ideas/statements. And, no, I'm not for taxes being increased to 15%. This splost addressed needs that are on the edge of being severe. I'd rather the enlargement of the court house and the jail be under our control, paid by sales taxes rather than mandated by a judge and paid for by an increase in property taxes. If a person doesn't LIKE the tax, all she/he has to do is not buy anything in the county. I am for the improvements to roads & intersections (I can't name one that I've heard of in the plan that I don't want improved.) I do believe that our system of electing commissioners/councilmen is sound. I do believe that the splost election is a fair way to offer its options to the population. I believe those for it and against it had their bite at the apple and the people who wanted a voice spoke through their ballot. Had the vote gone the other way, I'd have felt the same. While I feel that I have libertarian tendencies, If what I've said makes me a "liberal", so be it.
But if you and Bill believe that the elected officials are criminals, take your evidence to the DA and have the scoundrels prosecuted! And, if Bill believes his answers to our problems are sound, he needs to put himself up for election so that the voters can make their judgement about the soundness of his politics. And really, no offense meant.
George "Statist" Statesman in a representative republic the Commiscriminals would come to their districts and determine what the people want them to do. No lies, just the facts and truth. Then the Commishcriminals would vote YES to raise taxes to fund the projects or vote NO to keep those projects under wraps. SPLOST is turning those decisions over to the mobocracy, which by definition is not a representative republic. Bad law and we don't need to fall in with it.
I actually had no problem with a new jail or courthouse, but I did have a problem with the lies and distortions made by the Statists; 1. Chamber, 2. Mayor, 3. BoC, 4. Citizens for Prosperity, and 5. Kool-aid drinkers.
Just because there is no SPLOST does not mean we will not get a new jail or courthouse.
You drank the kool-aid and fell in with the Socialists that are David Seago, Jayne Iglesias, Patrick Bell, Pete Amos, Todd Levent, Jim Boff, and the biggest Statist in Forsyth County Brian Tam. I'll bet all of them voted for Obama, that is how bad they are.
They plunder the taxpayers in order to grow their power and pay-off their cronies. They specifically put this vote into a special election, stole our money to do so, and encouraged early voting in order to ram it down our throats. A PAC was formed by the Chamber and the entire power of the Sheriff's office, Mayor, BoC, and Chamber put to bear to misinform and lie to the public.
As we managed to educate citizens the vote changed. If you only count the votes on Nov 8th, this SPLOST failed miserably. They counted on early votes by those who were fooled, yet they only won by 504 votes or .4% of the voting population. Four tenths of the voting population of this county put debt and tax on 99.6%. That is criminal and the Commishcriminals caused it.
This was a massive defeat for all the commishcriminals as Todd Levent lost every precinct, Boff two of his biggest Windermere and Browns Bridge, Bell only pulled out three precincts with 4% in the win column, Tam lost my precinct because I educated the voters. Amos lost Otwell and his biggest win was Cumming. No surprise!
What is scary they've just started, its going to get worse. Millage rate increases and SPLOST VIII is not far behind; T-SPLOST next year and even more school taxes.
You either stop it now or you will destroy the finances of this county and drive more and more families into foreclosure.
George get real ... I believe in personal/individual responsibility for my own safety. I believe that you should keep more of your own money. I believe big gub'mint ruins the tax payer. I believe gub'mint exists for us, not the Commishcriminals. In Forsyth this is too radical and extreme to win elections. In order to win you need to embrace re distribution of wealth, believe there are never enough deputies in the Sheriff's department, believe there are never enough rules and regulations by the planning department, and in the past you could just raise some bees now the gub'mint determines whether you can or can't have a da**ed bee hive.
I was always told I was the evil twin. My name is Jerry. George never had any facts right his entire life. He was the kind of man in a womens body. George and his wife Georgetta had twins and named them George and Jerry. LOL.I had twins and named them Jerry and Sue and both were boys, I think or was it George that had the boys. My family is confused to this day and I blame our parents, Bobbi and Geraldene. LOL.
In reality George never understood freedom or he was called dum dum.
Bill, Wow! I sure hope you feel better after that one! We are closer in thought than you might imagine. If you aren't just full of hot air, throw your passion out there to the voters and run for office. There's 3/5 of a chance that your commissioner is up for election next year! But I do think it is demeaning of you to throw insults out at people....just like when the hippies started calling police "Pigs". Sucked then, sucks now.
And I really think this bee stuff is an example of the worst kind of government...when a bureaucrat uses guess work to determine the rules of a law.
@evil twin....you aren't really a part of the family...momma found you in the trash can out behind the building where the crack babies were birthed....hence your general and specific confusion.
George,
You'll have to forgive Bill. He has a lot of knowledge, but not much sense in applying it.
He's kind of a David Koresh conservative. He reads a lot, but he formulates it into this craziness that only he can follow. He thinks he's educating the masses, when all he's really doing is alienating himself and the Tea Party from mainstream.
The funniest thing about him though, is he pretends to be this guy who is all about the constitution and the bill of rights. That is until you disagree with him, then he is eager to tell you to "shut your pie hole". Apparently the first amendment only applies to Bill.
Just ignore him. Most people do.
The 1st Amendment only restrains the federal government from telling you to shut your pie hole.
That's just Bill - thanks. I think you've given an accurate description. It's a shame that those with good ideas often get lost in their own ego. And Bill's public discourse is no credit to the TEA Party.
It seems that George has a problem with understanding the true issues within our county gov't. Bill talks about the crap and Orhay insert rhetoric as an answer to Bills input.
Listen I've come to the conclusion that Forsyth County is not ready for; 1) limited gub'mint, 2) personal financial independence, 3) personal responsibility for ones safety, 4) low taxes, and 5) honest gub'mint.
The mere fact that I am surrounded by people who say they believe in these things, but then their actions do not support their claims illustrates the problems we have.
Until this county and the apparatus of the GOP recognizes a small "r" republican form of gub'mint rather than tax and spend BIG "D" Democrap gub'mint, we will continue to see foreclosures, lost jobs, lost opportunities and more taxes.
That goes for the state too; the federal gub'mint is gone. It will collapse and we will need our state and county to protect us from the fiscal calamity when the welfare/warfare state collapses.
