Utility Work Along Pilgrim Mill Road to Deliver Additional Raw Water to County Plant

Motorists should expect traffic delays during the construction work that will begin on June 19th, and the use of alternate routes is encouraged...

Upcoming utility construction work is planned in Forsyth County on a 48-inch water line that will deliver additional raw water to the county’s water treatment plant.

The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 19 and be complete by the end of July. Work on the water line will begin along Pilgrim Mill Road from Magnolia Avenue to Freedom Parkway, causing traffic on Pilgrim Mill Road between Holtzclaw Road and Freedom Parkway to be reduced to alternating one-way traffic. Efforts will be made to maintain two-way traffic between Magnolia Avenue and Holtzclaw Road, but there may be times when that traffic is slowed or stopped.

The water line will then be routed along Freedom Parkway, tunneled beneath GA 400 and connected to the Forsyth County water treatment plant on Antioch Road. Only about 3,000 feet of Freedom Parkway will be affected by the work; two-way traffic along Freedom Parkway is expected to continue throughout the project.

Crews will work on the Pilgrim Mill Road segment 24 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the project as expeditiously as possible, in order to reduce the length of time traffic is impacted.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area if possible by using alternate routes for the duration of the project. Please visit www.forsythco.com for information and updates.
