Get into the holiday spirit as you visit the magnificent holiday light displays located around town. These special holiday attractions open Mid-November which will allow families the opportunity to get into the spirit without fighting the crowds in the coming weeks.
Lake Lanier's Magical Nights of Lights
Take a driving tour through six miles of holiday lights and displays. Plan to stop and visit the Holiday Village and Santa Clause as you enjoy shops, amusement and pony rides, and a bonfire to roast marshmallows. Also featured on select dates is a live nativity scene and storytelling. The Magical Nights of Lights runs from November 17-December 30. Rates for cars with up to nine passengers are $30 Mon -Thu, $40 Fri.-Sun. and holidays. Discount coupons can be found at participating Publix, McDonalds, and Party City locations.
Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights
A popular annual event at this nature center and resort, drive you own vehicle or ride the open-air trolley through Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights with eight million lights displaying over a dozen holiday scenes. Advance tickets available prior to 12 pm on the day of viewing run $16.05 for adults and $8.03 for children ages 6-12. After 12 pm on the day of viewing, tickets are $17.12 for adults and $8.03 for children. Children 5 and under are free but must have a ticket. When purchasing tickets, you must select the mode and transportation and time slot. Tickets include admission to the Gardens the day of or the day following viewing of the holiday display. The Fantasy in Lights display runs nightly after 6 pm from November 16 - December 30, 2007.
Centennial Olympic Park Holiday in Lights
Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta transforms into a 21-acre winter wonderland each holiday season, featuring thousands of dazzling lights, an outdoor ice-skating rink, and an electric Penguin train. Admission to the park is free with tickets for the train ride just $2 per person. Ice skating is $6 per person for a 90 minute session and $2 for skate rentals. Skating is available after 4:30 pm most weekdays and from 10 am on weekends (visit www.centennialpark.com for holiday hours). Parking is available for $8 all day or $3 per hour depending which lot you choose. Holiday in Lights will run from daily Nov. 10, 2007 - Jan. 6, 2008 and is open until 11 pm.
A Stone Mountain Christmas
Stone Mountain Park celebrates the holiday season with millions of lights, a special holiday laser show on selected evenings, nightly fireworks and more. The event runs from November 10-December 30 after 3 pm (after 4 pm on Nov 16 & 30, Dec 7 & 14). Tickets are $17 for adults and $14 for children. Discount tickets are available at Kroger for $2.00 off a full-price admission. Kroger tickets must be exchanged at the Crossroads Ticket Plaza after 3 pm. Tickets include admission to Crossroads and all Christmas events and shows. Parking is $8.
It's Snowin' in the Station
Experience the magic of a realistic snowfall nightly at 7:30 p.m. with a second snow fall at 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays around the 50-foot-tall Christmas Tree at Central Park in Atlantic Station. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays as you stroll through 250,000 twinkling lights throughout the eight-block District area. The official tree lighting ceremony takes place on November 17th at 7:30 p.m., with special guest Diana DeGarmo. The Steel Mill Express Children’s Train will be available on weekends with tickets just $3 per person. Horse & Carriage Rides will be available Nov 24 & 30 from 7 pm to 9 pm with proceeds benefiting the Make a Wish Foundation. From Nov 16 – 30, visit the “Holiday Shops” of Atlantic Station where you will find unique holiday items. Admission is free and self-parking is free for the first 2 hours, then $2 - $4 depending on length of stay.
