A 57 year-old Forsyth County resident died yesterday afternoon when her 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer left the road and struck a power pole
According to Investigator Ron Tomblin, Traffic Specialist for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as Autume G. Smith. Ms. Smith lived on Truman Mountain Road in Gainesville.
Inv. Tomblin said that Ms. Smith was driving east on GA Hwy. 369 (Matt Highway) near Bannister Road at approximately 4:45 p.m. when her Trailblazer left the road and traveled over 180 feet on the shoulder of the road before impacting the power pole. Ms. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. She was alone in her vehicle.
Tomblin also said that a witness had observed Ms. Smith driving erratically and was attempting to call authorities when the wreck happened.
An investigation is being conducted to determine what caused Ms. Smith to wreck.
