In a town hall meeting held Wednesday evening at South Forsyth Middle School, County Manager Jeff Quesenbery said he will be asking the commissioners to support a plan to temporarily reopen Ronald Reagan parkway in as little as 3 months. According to Quesenbery, the road itself is stable at this point, and measures can be put into place over the next 2 months to further stabilize the roads foundation. Some slippage will continue to occur, but this will be manageable on a short term basis. With approval from the county commissioners, we could see the parkway open again this summer.
The comments were made in response to questions raised at a town hall meeting hosted by commissioner Charles Laughinghouse.
