Cumming – The Georgia Department of Transportation announces a new traffic signal at State Route 306 and Shadburn/Parks Roads in Forsyth County. The signal is in test mode and weather permitting should be operational Wednesday, April 2nd.
Each intersection goes through an intensive review to determine if the intersection meets the Federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal.  The intersection of State Route 306 and Shadburn/Parks Roads met the requirements. Testing of the signal began yesterday and if the testing goes well and weather permits, the signal will be operational by mid-morning on the 2nd.

If weather is inclement, the signal will be turned on Thursday, April 3rd.  DOT and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will monitor the area to ensure that drivers are following the new stop situation.   “Please slow down through the area and use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too! We don’t want you to be part of a crash because you weren’t paying attention and didn’t notice the new traffic signal,” said DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry.
