A 36 year-old motorcyclist from Roswell died early Friday evening when his motorcycle collided with a truck at the intersection of Hwy. 9 and Castleberry Road.
According to Investigator David Garrison, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as Hyosun Son. Garrison said Son was traveling southbound on Hwy. 9 when a collision in the northbound lane knocked a Ford F-150 into the southbound lane. Son’s 2006 Suzuki motorcycle struck the pickup truck broadside, killing Son. Rescue personnel performed CPR on Son and he was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Garrison said the collision was caused when several northbound vehicles were stopped, waiting to turn left onto Castleberry Road. A 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora driven by Chasen Arthur Failla, age 17, of Cumming struck the F-150, which was driven by Hunter Douglas Key, also age 17, of Cumming. Key was stopped behind two additional vehicles, which were attempting to turn left onto Castleberry Road.
The collision caused Key’s truck to veer into the southbound lane and it was struck by Son’s motorcycle.
Failla was charged with Following Too Close and Homicide by Vehicle, 2nd Degree. No one else was injured in the wreck, which occurred at 6:05 p.m.

I drive thru that intersection every single day. When is the county going to realize there needs to be a traffic light put at Hwy 9 and Castleberry???
I witnessed this accident on Friday. While lights may make this intersection safer in general, they probably would not have prevented this accident.
A turning lane would have prevented this accident. It is getting so busy in this area and there should be a turning lane. Hopefully, this accident will help bring changes.
