As part of the Governor’s Fast Forward initiative, the Georgia Department of Transportation has begun widening Georgia State Route 400. This $47.6 million project began in December 2005 and will impact nearly 10 miles of roadway along the corridor.

The scheduled completion date is September 2007.

Overview

This project includes widening the roadway between Holcomb Bridge Road to Windward Parkway northbound to four lanes, between Windward Parkway and McFarland Road to three northbound lanes and increasing the southbound lanes to three between McFarland Road and Holcomb Bridge Road.

Impact on Travel

Crews will begin widening the exit ramp from GA 400 southbound to Holcomb Bridge Road. Once completed, crews will begin work along GA 400 northbound from Windward Parkway to McFarland Road.

Lane closures will be limited for this project.

Safety

Georgia DOT encourages motorists to plan alternate routes through this project area, to allow extra travel time in anticipation of traffic delays, and to drive slowly and cautiously through the work zone.
