What They're Saying about the Vice Presidential Picks

Local Forsyth county residents react to the suprise vice presidential picks of Both Obama and McCain.  What are your thoughts?

From Jim Custer:

"I was not an enthusiastic McCain Voter.   I had planned on voting for him, but only to keep “O” out.  The selection of Palin makes me an enthusiastic McCain/Palin supporter and likely volunteer.

On Change--

·         “O” selects a Washington Insider

·         “M” selects a Washington Outsider

On Experience

·         “M” top of the Ticket

·         “O” Bottom of the Ticket

On Independence

·         “M&P” buck the party establishment

·         “O&B” maintain the party establishment

Who is for REAL Change?

Assuming the GOP ticket is successful, this sets up an interesting 2012, if McCain decides to be a one-term president, and “H” needs to run up against a female VP for the Top job.  “H” may be a very frustrated woman.

Yes, and Obama the Savior will save us all from our troubles, and save us all from ourselves. No thanks, I don't want government doing everything for me.

I particluarly love the misinformation he spouted concerning student loans and college last night. I can attest that what he said about college was categorically incorrect. More than ever before kids have access to all kinds of student loans, except Obama maybe doesn't realize that. Perhaps things have changed since he graduated college, but we were offered 2 federal student loans for college tuition, guess what ... at the click of a button. I see the press has not picked up on that bit of misinformation, why? Because they love obama

Why did Obamessiah (the change candidate) pick an establishment guy for his veep?

There is no substance to the Obamessiah!

What has he done, other than write a book about hope. And then another one on the same topic.

Good choice McCain. Could not wait for my daughter to come home from school today so that I could tell her that McCain chose a woman as his VP. This is a proud, proud day for women.

Yes, It's Genius!

Pick a former part-time mayor of 9,000 in BFE Alaska to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. Genius.

He might have well just picked Jim Harrell. Same qualifiications.

Yes, please. More "judgement calls" like this McCain.

Great choice. This will win over an even greater number of Hillary supporters.

Like Hillary said, "John McCain brings a lifetime of national security experience to the presidency. Obama brings a speech he made in 2002!

Can't wait to see the polls in the next few days.

Hey Bravo,

That is like saying the big O was a former community organizer in southside Chicago is a heartbeat away from the presidency. Oh my, you Dems sure are genius. That would be like voting for you!

Bravo,

Sarah Palin is governor of the largest state in the land. 90% approval rating. Two years executive experience (no other current pres or VP candidate has that).

She is more experienced than Obama to be president.

Obama is all about hope and change. Why pick the establishment guy?

Maybe it is time for a non "career" politician to take the VP office....it seems so many of us with absolutely no experience seem to know what this country needs...I think Palin was a perfect choice, a great offset to Obama's "more of the same" selection. Obiden???? Might as well chose Pelosi. I, for one, have had enough political rhetoric from these "Career Politicians". I want action, not pretty speeches. McCain/Palin has the potential to finally end the ridiculous spending habits of our government, put a dent in corruption, and make a difference to MY life.

I can see from the comments what the "Fox news educated" public in this county thinks. Please, read and turn the channel on your television and radio stations. If the democrats had pick Gov. Palin, I know Rush Limbaugh would not have made the same endorsing comment. McCain has told us he will continue the foolish bush/cheney agenda. Your vote is your voice and I intend to use mine for change with Obama/Biden.

Wow. To think that this country almost picked a street organizer with no experience to run our country. THANK YOU McCain for realizing that there are better choices than the establishment pick of Obiden.

I trust VP Palin to do a better job of looking out for my sailor, and all the other soldiers that we call sons and daughters than obama/obiden will ever do.

For those of us that actually work for a living and pay our bills, the economy is better than the MSM ever presents. If you don't believe me, then look at the parking lot at the Avenues and Walmart on a Saturday afternoon. This county is a great example of people taking personal responsibility for themselves and their familes.

We work hard. We play hard.

Of course, the 3% quarterly GDP growth is a GREAT SIGN but the MSM / press will never report it and most people don't understand it.

The best thing the obamination could do for me is go back to the cave he came from, smoke some more dope, and then write a third book on the audacity of failed hope.

I am surprised to read how there are still many racist simple minded people in Forsyth county whom have never left Forsyth county or Georgia or even traveled the world to form a sound opinion about Obama. Most of you simple minded people in Forsyth county only have a GED with no other formal education. The world is beautiful out there These simple minded people would rather a lying woman whom says she gave birth 2 years ago just to cover up her then 15 year old daughter giving birth. I would like to see her cover her daughter's new pregnancy. Most of the residents in Forsyth county homes aren't worth as much as Obama's education is and have ignorant comments like Obama is a muslim, he's young, he goes to church, he can't lead etc. You would rather a lying 73 year old multimillionaire whom hides money using his wife's name be president as if he is going to help you out of your trailers. You racist, small minded people are stuck in time driving around with your confederate flags, get over it General Lee LOST and DIED. On Keith bridge road you have a guy selling peanuts and firewood out of his trailer at a major intersection with a confederate flag hanging on his trailer. You bigots don't know why you hate black people wasting life hating when you should be living life and exploring the world traveling and get out of Forsyth county and experience other cultures. You have no culture here in Forsyth county, that is why you embrace your other tobacco chewing, simple minded living in the past, culture-less racist bigots. And I know it is not all of Forsyth county residents because the open minded people in Forsyth are either not from Forsyth or have traveled and seen the world.

Mr. Hancock, I see you have bought into the liberal media lies regarding Sarah Palin's family. May I suggest you get your news from somewhere other than the Daily Kos. John McCain has an adopted daughter from Bangladesh (don't think a racist would adopt from bangladesh, do you?), has served honorably in our military, yet the far left will try as they may to tear down everything about McCain and Palin.

Palin's pregnant daughter will resonate with many moms across the nation who have had to deal with the challenge of teen pregnancy with their own kids.

What I smell is fear from the far left fringe, fear when they now realize the mccain/palin maverick ticket (god forbid we have a WOMAN maverick on the ticket) will be the clear choice for most Americans. We need a shake up in Washington, urgently. And these 2 are ready to lead us in the right direction.

Not in circles by Obama, who promises the moon but won't be able to deliver

I belieive McCains selection of Sarah Palin for VP will eventually back-fire. Her personal choice to put country before familiy is unethical, and hypocritical. This is not an issue of experience. It is ,however, an issue of right vs. wrong. There's no possible reason for any mother with a baby with Downs syndrome and a pregnant teenager to step away from their parental responsibilities at such a critical time. God is the ultimate judge in this matter and I hope and pray she follows his will and not her own political aspirations.

That's a pretty judgmental statement about women. Finally, Finally we have a republican talking about being an advocate for disabled children. Amen. Amen. We have a terrible history of these children being treated as second class citizens in this country and in our institutions too (school), maybe just maybe that will change.

Jim, you need to crawl back under your rock. I think the sunshine is starting to make your brain shrink. "Unethical"? "Hypocritical"? No one would ever question a man who has a challenged child or a pregnant daughter accepting this opportunity. When Joe Biden's wife died did anyone tell him he shouldn't leave his children to go to Washington. NO, they didn't. What's the difference?

Maybe you should open your eyes AND your mind and you'll see she's a great choice.

It's frightening that our country could be run by such an unqualified person if McCain wins and falls to cancer (he's had 4 bouts of it). She is a great speaker but she is not cabable of making the level of decisions required. It's even more frightening that voters continue to blindly let the media tell them how to vote. Your grandkids will be digging us out of the mistakes from this last 8 years.

As opposed to an unqualified person running our country if Obama wins?

Palin had more experience running a country after her first day in office as mayor than Obama has right now.

All you need in Washington right now is a President or Vice-President who is willing to veto unbalanced budget requests. Something neither Obama or Bush is willing to do. McCain and Palin will do just that.

I am sorry to see the "mudslinging" of the major party candidates continued as written comentary here. How sad that interested stakeholders (voters), feel compelled to spew accusations about racism, ignorance, intelligence, and our local populations' lack of sophistication and experience instead of focusing on the issue at hand. Those of you who have done so should look in the mirror and if you have children, remind yourselves that you are shaping young minds with your emotional and unkind rhetoric that sounds straight from the biased media of the left and right.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a woman in the Whitehouse? Palin shows character in her personal choices and is not afraid to let her actions show what she stands for. However, I fear her stand on the woman's issue of "choice" and she lacks Washington experience. This could be a happy circumstance for change or a scary thing if she is not a quick study. Given her record in Alaska, I think she will rise to the occasion and act according to her beliefs, something sorely needed in politics at all levels today.

Biden is experienced, well spoken and very bright, yet hardly a candidtate for "change". His experinence bodes well for the enormous dearth of political leadership and Washington experience that Obama brings to the table. However, I don't hear either of these two candidates outlining real (or affordable) policy changes in their campaigns. In this time of economic crisis, these two make me nervous.

Does anyone remember that it was Clinton who decided to tax social security payments? So we pay taxes on the income when we pay in and taxes on the income again when we collect. Anyone who is totally dependant on social security income really suffers for this. My social security payments will not start for many years, if ever, but fiscal decisions such as this one really hurt the "average American" the Dems always claim to be interested in "saving" during their campaigns.

I hope everyone makes a concerted effort to get informed befor they vote this coming November.

With 9 days to go and Republicans jumping ship - and citing the Palin pick as one of their many MANY concerns about McCain and ENDORSING BARACK OBAMA -

looks like Barack Obama made the better choice in his VP pick than McCain did.

G'OBAMA BIDEN and BOOT OUT SAXBY TOO!!

VOTE JIM MARTIN on November 4th!
