You forgot one other primary function of Smart Growth: Planning to rig the next political debate!
I won't be attending any more Smart Growth meetings. For me, they lost all credibility when they endorsed Brian Tam and made bad decisions about the debates.
Funny, but I've attended nearly all the Smart Growth meetings for the past 4+ years, and I don't remember anyone named Jan attending regularly, if at all. So I don't think you'll be missed much, Jan.
In addition, "Smart Growth" did not endorse Brian Tam for re-election. They cannot do so in the way they are set up. Certain members did endorse Brian Tam as private citizens, but many members did not. In fact, more did not endorse Brian than did.
Hmmm....Let's see...David Richard attends almost every meeting, there is pretty good evidence that they tried to rig their debate, they didn't have the good sense to back the winner of the race, and more of their members backed a loser than not.
And why are we supposed to care about this group again?
Hmmmn . . . There is NO evidence they tried to rig any debate, unless you are among the folks who don't believe reality.
They CAN't back a candidate.
And just because a couple of their members came out publicly for Tam, doesn't mean the rest came out publicly for anyone else.
Stop trying to pick a fight you cannot win, Laura. You haven't got the chops to do so.
Dave, I'm aware you go to all the Smart Growth meetings. I've talked to you and Charlie at the meetings several times. And you're right, Smart Growth did not endorse Brian Tam but Bob Slaughter did. To me that's the same as Smart Growth endorsing him. I guess I should rephrase what I originally said though. Bob Slaughter endorsed Brian Tam. So, it's my opinion, Bob Slaughter, the champion of Smart Growth has lost all credibility. Brian Tam did not give Smart Growth the time of day for three and a half years and all of a sudden was responsive to their cause. Duh! Since you've been to every meeting in the last four years you know this is true. His lack of interest in their cause has been discussed at meetings. How many Smart Growth meetings has Brian Tam attended with you in the last four years? In the last six months?
Brian Tam has probably attended 6-8 meetings in the past 4 years, not counting debates or candidate forums. Most of those meetings he attended came in 2008.
Dale, Jan and Laura .....
I have been to most Smart Growth meetings over the past year and a half. Charlie has been at none. Brian has been at three or four.
I've never met anyone named Jan, Dale nor Laura....which just proves you are making assumptions based upon nothing but uneducated guessing and venom.
Nobody rigged the debates....so stop speaking of things you know nothing about.
Everyone at Smart Growth had their own favorite candidates. They are all individuals. Some are Democrats, some Republicans and some are Independents. Assuming there was some collusive effort to rig the debates is just MORONIC.
It's the "people" like you who make volunteers who are trying to make a positive contribution in their community, wonder why they bother.
Now, if you really want to know what Smart Growth is about....come to the meetings. If you don't, then save the nastiness.
'nuf said.
I never met anyone at any Smart Growth meetings named 'educated voter' either. So what's your point? I've been to many meetings. Charlie was at some. Dave was at all. Brian Tam was not at any. As a matter of fact there weren't very many people at the meetings at all. A table full...maybe. But everyone in that area knows who Bob Slaughter is and what Smart Growth is about. To most of them it means "STOP WALMART" and that's all they care about. So, in my opinion, when Brian Tam voted against WalMart for an endorsement from Bob it meant a lot to the community. No educated guessing OR venom. Just my personal opinion. Brian Tam wouldn't give Smart Growth the time of day until....... When was it, educated voter? Oh that's right, it was just before the election.
