CUMMING, GA – Today, Commissioner Brian Tam qualified to seek reelection to the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. Elected in 2004, Commissioner Tam currently represents District Two.
Tam, who has been a resident of Forsyth County for approximately 15 years, operates Tam's Backstage in Cumming, Ga. with his wife, Kelly.
In 2007, Tam's Backstage received the Partners in Education's Gold Level Award for its commitment to supporting quality education.
As a graduate of Leadership Forsyth, a recipient of the Don Hendricks Memorial Award and as a partner in education for many of our local schools, Tam understands the importance of giving back to his community.
"As a Commissioner, I have had an unparalleled opportunity to make a difference in the direction of our community," said Tam. "I am seeking reelection because I am committed to continuing to ensure our community reaches new heights."
In 2004, Tam campaigned on a platform that included working to restore cooperation among local branches of government.
"When I ran four years ago, I pledged to restore cooperation among our local government," said Tam. "And, today our efforts have led to partnerships such as Joint Venture Park where our County Government and Board of Education worked together to develop unused land into a park for our students and for our residents."
Among his most recent successes, Tam has worked to safeguard greenspace in Forsyth County by providing the leadership necessary to overwhelmingly pass the county's recent bond—resulting in the investment of $40 million to preserve existing greenspace and $60 million to develop and improve active recreation.
Tam's direction and vision have led to other accomplishments that include the future implementation of an early warning weather system to guarantee the continued safety of local residents, an additional Sheriff's precinct located adjacent to South Forsyth High and the widening of Highway 141.
As a champion in securing The Avenues Forsyth, Tam believes it is critical for Forsyth County to seek quality commercial development to balance the county's tax digest in order to keep property taxes low for residents.
"As a steward of Forsyth County, it is my responsibility to preserve our quality of life while also maintaining low property taxes," said Tam. "With the continued support of Forsyth County voters, I hope to continue representing their values on the Board of Commissioners."
Brian and his wife reside in South Forsyth with their three children.

Commissioner Tam, do you have a website?
Our Mr. Tam will start this election season off with me producing a major volume on how the City of Cumming paid most of his expenses for his Back Stage Restaurant.
The dossier I have assembled on Mr. Tam’s questionable business practices with the City stacks over two inches tall.
Every page to be displayed in public so every Forsyth Voter can see why it was unethical for Commissioner Tam to vote on any measure having to do with the City of Cumming. Should be very interesting for sure. Good luck Mr. Tam your going to need it pal.
Mr. Tam did a great job leading the green space bond. He does care about our county.
Do you think that Mr. Tam's real motive for the greenspace bond were really about his rec-election ?
I believe Brian Tam is a decent, honorable family man who served Forsyth County well in his first term and will serve even better in his second term.
Good luck Brian.
I can't say that it was or was not done for election strategies. The bond had supporters and non-supporters as well. I have met Mr. Tam and he just seems to be a calm, collected and insightful person. That's what we need leading the county.
Too much hot-headed politics. We need to get rid of those that create more problems for everyoine than they are worth.
I wish Mr. Tam well in his relection bid and will encourage others to vote for him as well.
Tam or Busse? Choose your nitwit.
Tam or Busse? Choose your nitwit.
I am leaning towards Smith...still early, however.
Brian Tam is another one of those Commissioner's that said one thing to get elected and then proceeded to become a City of Cumming advocate and Jack Conway side kick.
I will not forget Brian's voting record and will not vote for him.
