Cumminghome produced a lovely tribute today to Matt Phillips. I hope it will serve not only to honor him and hopefully comfort his family, but also remind readers and posters to this site that the feelings and ideas we have in common vastly outweigh our differences here in Forsyth County.

Thank you to those at Cumminghome.com that put together this video. This video was so moving that I actually cried. It made me grab my little boy and never want to let go. My heart goes out to this young mans family. May God Bless and keep you. I know that from now on I will remember that when I take for granted the freedoms we all enjoy each and everyday, I will try to take just a moment to remember the men and women who have made this sort of sacrifice so I have that freedom. I hope you will do the same

When I first heard that this brave young man was killed in action only five days before his time was up my heart melted. I have known the Lamb family all my life and a finer more dedicated to each other family does not exist. For those who might not know Corporal Phillips, his intention was to re-enlist. May God give peace to all this man’s family. This story is one of thousands like it across this Nation that break hearts and shatters families weekly.

Thank you cumminghome for this fitting tribute to one of our own.

That was one of the most touching tributes I have ever seen.

I don't know who was responsible for filming, producing, or editing this video, but they did just a beautiful job. Cumminghome definitely got this one right.

The sacrifice made by this brave young soldier, his wife and family has moved this community. This tragedy brought the war and the danger facing our servicemen and women both here and abroad home. I would like to thank Kim Funderburg for writing the origional story and I am so pleased that so many citizens took the time out of their day to go and pay tribute to this fallen hero. May our thoughts and prayers throughout the county be with this family and with all those whose lives are touched each and every day in some way by the brave soldiers fighting to maintain our rights, safety and freedoms we each enjoy on a daily basis.
I am proud of the job my daughter Kristin did with the filming from the car. Steve then did the producing and editing.

First of all, I want to send my condolences along with thanks to the family of this fallen soldier. The sacrifices made are truly appreciated by my family.

My daughter is also in the U.S Army. She is a combat medic, and I am very proud of her and every soldier that puts their lives on the line so that we may enjoy the freedom that so many take advantage of.

Thank you, too, to the members of the community that showed their support for this family.

It makes one think twice about complaining about the petty things that seem to be a burden on a daily basis. WE HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!!!!!!

There are no medals big enough, for a Hero who suffers the ultimate sacrifice. My heart weeps for Eve and Cpl Philips beloved Family.

I was overwhelmed by the city of Cumming, their Police, Troopers, Fire Department, the Patriot Guard Riders, Our US Army and all the Citizens who dawned their uniforms, out of pure Love and respect for Cpl. Philips .

The Citizens who stationed their flags, signs, and salutes, along the roadside as they paid their last respect to Cpl Philips, was an emotional experience for me as I drove in procession. The Love and Patriotism was at it's highest level in this incredible little town. As an outsider, I was definitely honored to be supportive in any way that I could.

I wish to give my personal Thanks to Cpl. Matthew Philips, a Soldier of great courage and sacrifice, now an Angel overlooking his Country, and all he truly loved. Eve, as I continue on my crusade for Our Military overseas, I will always remember your Gallant Matthew, who gave of himself for love of his Comrades, his Country, and our very precious Freedom.
He will not be forgotten.
God Bless, Bebop

I can only cry when I see this anymore. The same thing happened in 'Nam, the "short timers" were protected as much as possible by their comrades, but still the same thing happened. They came back to "the world" in a flag draped metal box. My son felt God's calling in his youth and is now a Chaplain with the 4th I.D. because he had talked to friends that were in country and the things they saw and experienced are sometimes overwhelming for the human mind. My son has has exceptional specialized training to help deal with this, and so has his wife. They have moved to a place that takes 16 to 18 hours by car to get to and we miss our two grandsons so desperately. But we know that another family, just like Phillips family, will receive help from men like my son. My heart is so broken to see these things happened to our bravest and brightest, and for their loved ones, too. God Bless them all, I would gladly change places with this brave young man. I am an old fart, and lived a decent amount of time, I would give mine so that Phillips might have lived!

I'm Matt's great-aunt. I was in that funeral posession. Words cannot express the DEEP patriototic feelings I and others in the car with me felt. All we could do was cry, smile, and say Thank you to all those on the roadside. WOW, what a tribute to a Christian soldier! For those of you that didn't know Matt, his life verse was, Matt.5:8. Read that and that's all you'll need to know about this BRAVE AMERICAN! Thank you all for all you stood for that day. Mrs. Sharon Cochran Burden Baileyton, Al. 35019
