A late night single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 17 year-old South Forsyth High School student last night.
According to Investigator Ron Tomblin, Traffic Specialist with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as Derek Austin Buraczynski of Woodcliff Drive in the Grand Cascades subdivision
Tomblin said that Buraczynski was southbound on GA 400 and attempting to exit at Highway 141 (Exit #13) when his 2000 Ford Explorer left the road about half-way up the exit ramp, rolled over several times and came to rest with its top against a pine tree. Buraczynski was killed instantly.
A passing motorist spotted the wreck just after 5:00 a.m. this morning and called 911. Buraczynski had previously been reported missing by his father when he missed an 11:00 p.m. curfew at home. The cause of this wreck is under investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
Buraczynski had just turned 17 on December 30.
