Early Voting is Going extremely well according to registrar Gary Smith.  Forsyth County's number for early voters has exceeded totals from all surrounding counties, even those that are 4 times our size.  Here are the totals as of this writing:

If previous years are any indication, the numbers will grow as the week progresses, and over 6x the total number of early voters will show up to the polls on Tuesday.   Looks like we are going to have a turnout of 20,000 or more this time around.  Way to go Forsyth!

Advance Voting is being held at five locations throughout the county the week prior to each election (Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm).

Advance Voting Locations are as follows.  No matter where you live in the county, you can vote at any of these locations during advanced voting.

• Cumming Public Library, 585 Dahlonega Hwy Cumming, GA 30040
• Sharon Forks Public Library, 2820 Old Atlanta Road Cumming, GA 30041
• F.C. Public Safety Complex 3520 Settingdown Road Cumming, GA 30028
• Midway Park, 5100 Post Road Cumming, GA 30040
• Forsyth County Administration Building

If you prefer to vote the old fashioned way, Polls will be open in 32 election precincts on July 15th, from 7am to 7pm.  Results should be available within a few hours of Poll closing on the 15th.

Several local races have more than 2 candidates, so there is likely to be a runoff election as well.  The runoff date is scheduled for August 5, 2008.

If no candidate in an election reaches a 50% plus one vote majority, the two candidates with the most votes will square off in the runoff on August 5th. Advance Voting for the runoff will be July 28 to August 1, 2008
