Gainesville, GA -  MILTON SCOTT PRUITT, 40, of Forsyth County, Georgia,  has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.

United States Attorney David E. Nahmias said of the case, “It is disturbing when someone entrusted with public safety exploits his position to commit crimes. This former deputy sheriff is charged with using his access to the Forsyth County computer server to receive and view child pornography (images gathered as evidence in the Sheriff Office’s child exploitation investigations).  Those who receive and possess child pornography–that is, images of children being sexually exploited-- support a vile industry that causes immense harm to innocent children. This former law enforcement officer is part of the problem, unlike the vast majority of officers who are part of the solution.”

According to United States Attorney Nahmias, the charges and other information presented in court: On or about March 15, 2007, PRUITT allegedly knowingly received child pornography on his Forsyth County-issued computer. The three-count indictment also charges that continuing through on or about May 16, 2007, PRUITT knowingly received graphic images on his home computer, the production of which involved the use of minor children engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only allegations.  A defendant is presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government's burden to prove a defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000.

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, the Attorney General launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.  Led by the United States Attorney's Offices around the country, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.

This case is being investigated by Special Agents of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Assistant United States Attorneys Francey Hakes and Corey Steinberg are prosecuting the case.

Hey Scott. Enjoy prison. I'm sure Kim's big mouth will be enough to heat the house in the winter.

Mr. Pruitt has not been convicted and these are only allegations. Mr. Carter should remove good job's post. Ms. Pruitt is not a public figure either, damaging comments toward peoples' families need to stop.

This is absolutely an attack on a family member. I'd also suggest a removal. But then I know for a fact that it has been copied already. I see the troubles of Mr. Pruitt as an financial investment for him. I could be absolutely wrong but knowing what I know this might not turn out like you think it will.

And Good Job was your post a needy hint that you need your electric bills and car payments made again as you did a while back by you know who? Or perhaps another website for your mother possibly. Or maybe two more websites for you with stolen funds.

As I hear it you need to be making your preparations for the stand because you will be one of the first ones to swear in.

Only a small person with no real concern for a family, a child or a person would post such a statement as Good Job. To hid behind a moniker to make such a statement shows just how small of an individual this person truly is with the lack of character in his/herself and no compassion for others.

Let not the public forget, that Mr. Pruitt is entitled to his day in court and until that day comes he is " presumed innocent of the charges and it will be the government's burden to prove a defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. Members of the public are reminded that the indictment contains only allegations."

Mrs. Pruitt and the other family memebers should not be brought into the rude attacks by small people like "Good Day." Steven please follow this article and protect this family as you would your own. Let the post be fair but not hurtful to the other family members.

My prayers are with you Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt and others in the family the days ahead will be hard for everyone, take time you, each other and don't read the trash that will be posted by small people. You know the truth and you will get through this.

Well it's nearly 24 hours later and the first post should have been removed by now. Deeply disappointed. It's bad enough the family has to put up with the media coverage, and doubly bad when some body posts nonsense like in the first post involving a family member which has nothing to do with the charges OR allegations.

I know Scott is guilty from personal experience many years ago.
