Detectives with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division have been involved in a week long investigation that began on July 17th when they were tipped off that a stolen transformer was located at a residence on Holbrook Campground Road.
At the residence investigators discovered more stolen property. Christopher James Antkowiak, 34 years of age, was arrested and charged with five counts of Receiving Stolen Property.
Located on Antkowiak’s property were three stolen Mercedes automobiles, a John Deer ATV, a Polaris ATV, two tags from other vehicles that had been reported stolen, and over 200 power tools and chainsaws.
Detectives are working to identify the owners of the property that was recovered. Many of serial numbers from the items had been removed. There was also evidence that Antkowiak was heavily involved in copper theft.Antkowiak has been released on a $32,758.00 bond. Additional charges are likely.
