Over 100 motorcycle enthusiasts turned out this weekend to enjoy the Fall weather and raise money for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton announced today.
The annual event, now in its 8th year, honors the memory of Sgt. David Land, who was killed in the line of duty in 2003. The ride format is a dice run in which participants roll dice at six different ride locations. At the end of the ride, all scores are tabulated and the top three scores are declared the winners. A prize is also given for the lowest score.
Yesterday’s ride started at Biker’s Dream in Alpharetta and wound its way on a 65-mile route on serene country roads through Dawson and Forsyth County. Stops along the way included Polaris of Cumming, Dawsonville Pool Room and Sawnee Preserve in Cumming.
Several thousand dollars were raised for the Youth Homes, Sheriff Paxton said.
In the accompanying photo, the winners proudly display their trophies. Pictured, l-r, are:
First Place: Chuck Reynolds of Cumming
Second Place: Randy Jones of Villa Rica
Third Place: Kevin Copp of Cumming
Low Score: Mac McDougald of Cumming
