We strongly object to the 4th draft of redistricting. The children at Forest Brooke subdivision should attend the schools they're currently attending. Your approval of this draft will be detrimental to both Forsyth County and all of the affected families in Forest Brooke and many other similar neighborhoods.

We and our children had a beautiful dream when we decided to have our new home in Forsyth County. We were told that our children would go to the currently districted schools. Now we realize that this was truly just a dream.

Your approval of the 4th draft will literally force us to sell our newly purchased home and move out of Forsyth County -- forever. We'll lose not only time, money, and a new home, but more importantly our trust in FCS.

We know that as tax payers, our voice will not be heard. Even if it is heard, it will be ignored. Even if it is not ignored, it will be discarded because it is not supported by your computer system. Our opinions will be "considered" only if they are consistent with your computer system. We're not supposed to show anger when we voice our opinions. We also know that we don't even have the right to get any truly sensible, reasonable explanations of the draft. All we get is just a draft map.

We disagree with the following statement by FCS. If FCS intends to redistrict every 2 to 3 years, it should have informed all of the home buyers in Forsyth County -- before their purchases and not after. When we bought our home in Forsyth County in 2006, school education was the biggest part of our final decision. Now FCS is telling us that our choice is irrelevant because redistricting will happen every 2 to 3 years. We know that most of the residents in the Forest Brooke subdivision made their decisions to have their homes in the neighborhood because they were told that their kids could go the schools they are currently attending. The fact that you are basing all of your decisions on a computer system is disturbing. Computer systems have no regard for human reality.

"FCS does not base attendance lines on home values, the age of developments, the length of time you have lived in your home/county or student ethnicity. FCS does not encourage residents to purchase homes because of current or future school attendance lines. FCS is one of the fastest growing school systems in the nation and must redistrict approximately every two to three years to relieve overcrowding at current schools and to populate new schools, five of which will open in August, 2009."

Mr. and Mrs. Zhang-- you do have an opportunity to make your voice heard in the upcoming election. We have 3 school board seats up for election.

Consider looking at the candidates and vote July 15th in the primary. The community at large (the entire community) gets to vote for all the candidates. You don't have to live in the candidate's district to vote.
