Regardless of the situation, all parents want to see their children succeed. Raviv Genosar, a father of three, is no exception, though his quest for excellence stretches far beyond his own family.
On March 10th, Genosar facilitated his interest in academic achievement by opening Math Monkey Knowledge Center, a supplemental education franchise for children ages 6 to 14 at 2615 Peachtree Parkway in Suwanee next to Super Target on Hwy 141. Genosar's location is the second of its kind in the United States and this first of six in the Greater Atlanta area.
Math Monkey differs from other programs in its market by teaching its students concepts based on the principles of Vedic math from India. Vedic is a unique system of calculations, easily applied to arithmetic, which makes it possible to quickly solve complex mathematical problems without the use of a calculator or pencil and paper. Instead of standard worksheet-based programs, Math Monkey uses interactive games to engage its students and sharpen their skills at a faster rate. Unlike most supplemental education programs, Math Monkey is not exclusively targeting remedial students. It is ideal for children who are performing on grade level but want to advance their skills.
"Enhanced education is a fast-growing market with a large effect on our society," said Genosar, the son of a veteran kindergarten teacher and a mechanical engineer by training. "As parents, we want to give our kids the best tools to compete and succeed in their lives. Math is an essential skill to achieve that and our curriculum improves the mental agility of our students."
Parents have already praised Math Monkey's learning system and Genosar is confident that local schools will embrace Math Monkey, despite its relative newness when compared to other methods.
"It seems that the local administrators, principals and teachers are open-minded to listen and accept new teaching methods," he said. Good thing, because there are more than 65 schools within a 15 mile radius of his Peachtree Parkway location. Genosar is currently an educational partner with Forsyth County schools and working closely with local PTA programs. His center serves Gwinnett, Fulton and Forsyth counties.
Math Monkey CEO and "Top Banana" Kirsten Fisch began franchising Math Monkey in June 2006 and has already awarded 40 locations across the country. The company hopes to open 34 locations by the end of 2007, with a goal of 300 locations by 2009. Math Monkey will also expand internationally to Canada, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Genosar's plans to open five additional centers in Metro Atlanta in the next three years will certainly help Math Monkey facilitate their growth plans.
Ever the family man, Genosar has seen to it that his daughters, ages 13, 11 and 6, benefit from Math Monkey's methods. "They are Math Monkey students," said Genosar.
