All are invited this Saturday to the third annual VCE Spring Carnival, hosted by Vickery Creek Elementary in South Forsyth County. Supported by the VCE PTA and devoted parent volunteers, this annual family event is back with even more in store for families and kids of all ages. The Carnival is slated for this Saturday, April 26, 2008, 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. and is open to all of Forsyth County.
New to the VCE Spring Carnival is a live performance by local student band, 2nd wav, which features Vickery Creek Elementary 5th grade student, Grayson Arias, and other area students. “We are especially excited this year to have live entertainment at our Carnival, and we’re delighted to be audience to five very talented Forsyth County students,” commented VCE Carnival Chair, Vivian Heard.
Awesome inflatable rides – including the giant shark slide and roller coaster obstacle course – are new this year, and the ever-popular rock climbing wall, where climbers are challenged to test their strength, agility and skills, is back and always a hit with the older kids.
The quad jump is also new this year, offering unlimited rides to paid attendees, and the Madagascar combo inflatable will delight the little ones. “Our goal this year is to appeal to all ages so that entire families can enjoy the day together. The quad jump is especially popular with older kids, and we’re glad to be able to have this ride available at no additional cost. A one-time entrance fee of $15 provides unlimited rides, including the quad jump and rock climbing wall,” explained Heard.
Games galore of varying skill levels – including Tic Tac Toe, Golf Challenge, Bulls Eye, Troll Toss and others -- will please guests of all ages who will win fun prizes for their efforts. A race car accompanied by a 70-foot trailer will be on exhibit by VCE dad, David Hole, and great music ‘spun’ by favorite DJ and former VCE teacher, Kevin Smith, will set the tone for a fabulous family event, along with some pretty great talent show performances.
A ‘teacher water balloon throw’ will give students a chance to ‘nail’ their favorite teacher or principal, and a petting zoo will delight kids (and adults) of all ages. Prizes will be awarded for the best “hoola hooper,” and students can test their academic skills and vie for great prizes at the Qwizzy’s World booth. “I hope everyone will get a chance to visit Qwizzy’s World during the Carnival. It’s a brand new concept for helping kids study and succeed, and is the brainchild of VCE mom, Julie Wilson,” said Heard.
VCE is also pleased to welcome two squads of local cheerleaders, including more than 20 cheerleaders from the West Forsyth High School squad, who will be on-hand to paint faces, apply temporary tattoos and do a little cheering for the crowd.
Several fabulous prizes will be raffled off as well, including:
The Carnival ‘Food Court’ will include delicious meals from Chick-Fil-A (Lanier Crossing) and Calabria Pizza and Wings – and other goodies as well. And speaking of Chick-Fil-A, that famous cow (and perhaps some of his friends) will be making rounds visiting with guests throughout the day. Additionally, mountains of fresh popcorn and refreshing sno cones will be plentiful, too.
