Have you noticed all the American Flags that keep popping up around the major holidays? Chances are, these are flags placed there by an Optimist Club member.
"We currently have over 350 flags in Forsyth County, and we want to get to 400 by Memorial Day." Optimist Club President Mark Sosnik said.
The Forsyth Cumming Optimist Club “Avenue of Flags” is a fund raiser for the club which promotes patriotism in the community. All profits will be used to fund youth scholarships and projects in the county.
For a subscription fee of $35.00 per year, the Forsyth-Cumming Optimist Club will place a 3’ by 5’ nylon American flag in front of your home or business for these six national holidays:
Presidents Day (February)
Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
Flag Day (June 14)
Independence Day (July 4)
Labor Day (First Monday in September)
Veteran’s Day (November 11)
Club volunteers will deliver the flags one day before the holiday and retrieve them the day after the holiday. You do not have to be present. The club is responsible for the replacement of any flag soiled, damaged or stolen as well as storing the flags throughout the year. Please join your neighbors by beginning your subscription in this colorful and patriotic program.
You can subscribe by sending the completed form below along with your check payable to Forsyth-Cumming Optimist Club for $35.00 to P.O. Box 111, Cumming, GA 30028.
