Sawnee School of Ballet Introduces Students to a Variety of Dance

The Sawnee School of Ballet offers Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop classes to students pre-school through professional. Whether your child is studying dance for the pure joy and benefits it brings, or aspiring to have a professional career, Sawnee School of Ballet is the place to be.

Known for its high standard of excellence, the Sawnee School of Ballet has trained students to qualify and receive scholarships for prestigious Summer Intensive programs such as the Joffrey School of Ballet, Ballet Magnificat, American Ballet Theatre, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Breneau University.

Established in 1990 by Joan Kall Stewart, the Sawnee School of Ballet hosts a faculty of professional dancers with exceptional dance backgrounds. Ms. Stewart, a native New Yorker, received her training at The Westbury Studio of Fine Arts, American Ballet Theatre School, The School of American Ballet and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Her extensive professional credits include Broadway Companies of Hello Dolly and Camelot, National Touring Companies, and national television commercials.

The Sawnee Ballet Theatre, Cumming Georgia’s premier Ballet Company is a non-profit organization based at the Sawnee School of Ballet. SBT provides the dancers of Forsyth County the experience of performing in a professional setting. Best known for its full-length productions of The Nutcracker and Spring Concerts, The Sawnee Ballet Theatre will be presenting Sleeping Beauty Friday, March 14th at 7:30 p.m.

Currently registering for Summer Dance Camps and Pre-Registration for Fall Classes, SSB is conveniently located at 433 Canton Rd. in Cumming. Office hours are Monday through Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and information and registration can be obtained by calling (770) 887-0756.
