Families of Deployed Soldiers, a support group for military families, has been meeting regularly at Cumming First United Methodist Church, but now they do not meet on a regular basis. Instead, they meet whenever, wherever, as needed by the families. A support group that was started by Neida Streit, a U.S. Veteran and Director of Communications at CFUMC, and an Army wife with a young child and a husband that served two tours, Families of Deployed Soldiers now provides help and support services around the clock, whenever families need them.

To help military families cope, Neida Streit coordinates the group’s efforts of providing needed resources to the families. Their resources include counselors, handymen, mechanics, plumbers, tutors, babysitters, lunch groups, coffee clubs, and more.

If you or someone you know is in need of the support services offered by Families of Deployed Soldiers, initial contact can be made by calling Neida’s office at (770) 887-2900 ext. 215 or by emailing nstreit@cfumcga.com After this initial contact, a list of other “on call” contacts will be provided. The group supports the privacy of the families it serves.
