Wanted: A Big Brother in 2008

Do you remember kindergarten? My name is Anthony; I’m 6 years old and I really like school! At home I help out a lot because my dad is not around. My mom says I need some male guidance and attention. I’m not sure what that means, but I’d love to have a friend to talk to and have fun with.

A Big Brother could help me learn how to brake. I’m good at riding my bike, but it’s the stopping I have a problem with!

I’ve been on the Big Brothers Big Sisters waiting list for several months, but I’m told BBBS needs more men to volunteer.  I hope someone will make a New Years Resolution to be my Big Brother in 2008. That would be a very special resolution if you ask me.

I am adventurous, like to bowl and play arcade games. I like to eat chicken nuggets and birthday cake…even if it’s not my birthday!

I have a dog, a cat and a turtle. Do you know of any other 6 year-old who have a turtle as a pet? That’s pretty cool.

Boys just like Anthony are in need of a Big Brother in their life. All it takes is just a couple hours a week to see how you can improve the life of a child.  As the New Year approaches why not make a resolution to help make a difference in a child’s life. You don’t have to change your life to change his! Big Brothers Big Sisters works closely with parents and guardians to match children with an appropriate Big Brother or Big Sister. BBBS mentors children who are primarily from single-parent families or are living with grandparents or other family members. BBBS is currently looking for a few good men! Please call 678-513-8600 or e-mail Carolyn at bbbs.ceq@earthlink.net. BBBS is a member agency of the United Way of Forsyth County.
