Ted’s Montana Grill, the classic American grill co-founded by media entrepreneur, philanthropist and environmentalist Ted Turner and award-winning restaurateur George McKerrow Jr., will open its 13th metro-Atlanta restaurant on Monday, May 19, at The Avenue® Forsyth in Cumming, Ga. The restaurant is the company’s first in Forsyth County.
Located off GA 400 at 410 Peachtree Parkway (GA-141), the restaurant will be open for dinner at 4 p.m. on May 19 and every day for lunch and dinner starting May 20. Operating hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The restaurant seats 150 people, with additional seating for 18 guests on the outside patio. Beth Legum is the proprietor of the Cumming restaurant. The telephone number is (678) 947-3530.
Opening next month, The Avenue® Forsyth, developed by Cousins Properties Inc., is an open-air specialty retail center on 108 acres with 600,000 square feet of mixed-use development including restaurants, retail shops and a movie theatre metroplex. More information can be found at www.shoptheavenue.com.
The new Ted’s Montana Grill restaurant will hold a public ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce on Friday, May 16, at 5 p.m. The restaurant also will host two private preview parties on May 16-17, with beverage sales proceeds benefiting the Forsyth County Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of South Forsyth County and Keep Forsyth County Beautiful.
McKerrow, who serves as president and CEO of the company, said, “Forsyth County is one of Georgia;s fastest-growing counties, and we’re thrilled to bring the Ted’s concept of casual luxury dining to the area. Metro Atlanta is our largest market, and we’re confident Ted’s will be a great fit for the people of Forsyth.”
Featuring all fresh, made-from-scratch dishes served in a relaxed setting of casual luxury, Ted’s Montana Grill harks back to a turn-of-the-century Montana grill and bar, with architectural elements reminiscent to the Arts & Crafts period of the day. The restaurants serve homemade dishes with a menu that features all-natural premium Harris Ranch Beef, National Bison Association-certified bison, Springer Mountain Chicken, premium seafood and more. The company is also known for its strong commitment to the environment. At Ted’s, all menus are printed on recycled paper, with recycled brown butcher paper lining the dining tables. Soft drinks come in recyclable glass bottles. Instead of plastic, wax-coated paper drinking straws and wooden drink stirrers are offered. To-go cups are made from cornstarch and to-go cutlery is actually made from potato starch. Ted’s recently installed low-voltage compact fluorescent lighting in the guest areas of all of its restaurants. The company is also studying the benefits of solar power and wind generators for possible use in the future. Other measures include water-efficient toilets and waterless urinals in many units and biodegradable powder Boraxo soap in restrooms. Nearly all of the paper, plastic, aluminum and glass products used are recycled and Ted’s is currently measuring the impact of this effort in landfills. Finally, each restaurant is non-smoking.
“We set a high standard for being environmentally friendly—we founded our company on this principle and it’s one we continue to think about every step of the way. We want to be a role model to other restaurant operators as well as give our customers a place where they can ‘eat great and do good,’” McKerrow adds.
Ted’s Montana Grill is based in Atlanta. With the addition of the Cumming restaurant, the company will have 56 restaurants, including locations in Atlanta; Alexandria and Arlington, Va.; Aurora, Denver and Greenwood Village, Colo.; Birmingham, Ala.; Bonita Springs, Jacksonville, Naples and Tallahassee, Fla.; Chicago; Columbus, Ohio; East Hartford, Conn.; Indianapolis; Kansas City, Mo.; Lexington, Ky.; Nashville, Tenn.; New York City; Omaha, Neb.; Philadelphia; Raleigh and Durham, N.C.; Westborough, Mass.; Wichita and Kansas City, Kan.
