By a split vote, Forsyth County Commissioners approved the submission of the 2007 Forsyth County Arts Alliance (FCAA) Grant application for the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department to paint a historical mural at the Forsyth County Admin Building. The grant application is for $5000 and requires a 50% match from the county.

Commissioners Tam and Ledbetter expressed concern about the oversight of the contents of the mural, and wanted to give this authority to the Forsyth County Historical society, hoever the terms of the grant dictate that the county administrator have final approval.

Commissioner Richard expressed concern that tax dollars are being spent on artwork in a public building. In the end, the measure was approved by a vote of 3-2, with Commissioners Richard and Harrell dissenting.
