As pet owners, the doctors and staff at Animal Medical Center of Cumming understand that your pet is a member of your family. Whether you are seeking a full-time veterinarian for your pet or just need to have your pet boarded or groomed, you will find a team of animal lovers ready to take excellent care of your pets.

Established in 1995, Animal Medical Center’s motto is “We Treat Your Pet like Our Own.” This is apparent in their treatment of both pets and owners. Animal Medical Center focuses on the quality of the care they provide to each pet. The doctors keep up with the latest medical advances and maintain accreditation with the American Animal Hospital Association, which requires that accredited practices meet high standards of quality for veterinary care.

The doctors at Animal Medical Center also treat each pet as an individual patient, spending time with pets and their owners to better understand and diagnose their symptoms. It is important to the staff at Animal Medical Center to develop personal relationships with both the pets and their owners. Owners don’t feel neglected as doctors and staff keep them fully informed every step of the way when their pet is under the care of Animal Medical Center’s full service veterinary hospital.

In addition to the full service hospital, Animal Medical Center also offers boarding and grooming services. Visit their website at www.amcofcumming.com for more information on their wide range of services. Animal Medical Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and Saturday from 7:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. The doctors and staff welcome you to come by for a tour of the facility and meet their doctors anytime. They are located at 1438 Buford Highway, Cumming, GA. They can be reached by phone at (770) 886-8555.

During the holiday season, Animal Medical Center offers a number of helpful holiday safety tips to keep your pets (and you) happy and healthy through the holiday season:

1. Keep chocolate in a safe place away from pets. Depending on the dose ingested, chocolate can cause vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, hyperactivity, increased thirst and urination, and an increased heart rate. The dark baker’s chocolate is especially toxic.

2. Candies or gum containing the sweetner xylitol can cause a drop in blood sugar, resulting in depression, loss of coordination and seizures.

3. Pets should never be fed “people food.” Bones can splinter and cause blockages. Greasy, spicy and fatty foods can cause an upset stomach, and a very serious condition called pancreatitis (inflammation of the pacreas).

4. Alcohol can cause a pet to go into a coma, possibly resulting in death from respiratory failure.

5. Keep a watchful eye on your pets around decorations like ribbon or tinsel, which can become lodged in the intestines and cause a blockage.

6. Holiday plants such as mistletoe, holly berries, and poinsettias can cause vomiting, diarrhea and cardiovascular problems. Keep plants out of reach of pets.
