Cumming, GA—When Deborah Zagarella is not selling real estate with Prudential Georgia Realty, she is a passionate supporter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Forsyth County. She has been involved with this branch of the nonprofit since its formation in 2002.

Last year, Debbi volunteered more than 60 hours with this organization through her pairing with two area children. Her mentor duties include hanging out with these children, talking, and taking part in such activities as fishing, hiking, shopping and going to dinner.

For this involvement, Debbi has been recognized by The Prudential Foundation, a nonprofit arm of Prudential Financial, with a Prudential CARES Volunteer Grant. She received a certificate and a $250 grant for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Forsyth County.

In 2006 and again this year, she also serves on the organization’s Board of Trustees where Debbi is involved with fund-raising, matching other children in the community, finding additional adult volunteers, and contributing financially to the growth of the program. Big Brothers/Big Sisters matches children, ages 6-12, who are primarily from single parent homes with adult mentors. Matches can last until the child graduates high school.

“Kids in this program are 46 percent less likely than their peers to start using illegal drugs and 52 percent less likely to skip a day of school,” said Debbi. “I am proud to help this organization in any way possible and make a difference in a child’s life.”

Debbi is one of nine Prudential Georgia Realty agents honored with a Prudential CARES Volunteer Grant and it is the third consecutive year she has won this grant to benefit Georgia Equality.  A total of $460,750 in grants was awarded 619 Prudential Financial employees, which includes the Prudential Real Estate Affiliates arm of some 77,000 real estate agents.

A Forsyth County resident, Debbi Zagarella specializes in residential real estate in the Forsyth, North Fulton and Cherokee County regions. She has earned her Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, the Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) designation and, in 2007, completed requirements to earn her Associate Broker’s license.
