Recycled Styrofoam coffee cups are great for starting seeds indoors. The Styrofoam helps keep the soil at an even temperature for quick plant growth. Save cups from social gatherings, rinse well and punch a few holes in the bottom with a sharp pencil.
Fill cups with Pro-mix or another good potting mix, water well and sow your seeds. Use a pen or pencil to impress the variety name into the top of the cup. This top ring can be torn out and used to label the variety as well as to save the young plant from cutworms when you plant outdoors.
