Austin's Steak and Seafood...Cumming's Secret Dining Spot

"Oh My! Whoa Nellie! How 'bout that?"

Great axioms to describe special moments in sports. Well you can very well use those terms for the restaurant business, too. Austin's Steak and Seafood has taken a bold step in enhancing patrons' dining experience by offering spirits, beer...and especially wine, at ridiculously low pricing. (Above axioms are appropriate here!)

The thought process behind this new exciting pricing is two-fold.

First, the majority of restaurants are chains and have corporate headquarters out-of-state that require 5-10 percent of sales to be sent to the home office for salaries, beautiful office buildings and national advertising expenses -- the number one reason chains may charge so much for spirits and wine. Since Austin's in Cumming is an independent without that overhead, the restaurant can pass a significant savings on to their guests.

Secondly, the ownership of Austin's feels that adult beverages -- especially wine -- can make the dining experience a more memorable one. A great bottle of wine is usually too expensive for the budget-minded customer, but at Austin's that's not the case. "We want our guests to enjoy the food and wine paring, and we wanted to price the bottles of wine as close the price of an entree as possible," said Steve Murphy, co-owner of Austin's, with wife, Carol.

Austin's made a decision to redirect advertising dollars so that they go directly to their guests. This results in lower prices (i.e. spirits start at $3 and Beringer house wines are $14), attentive service and great food in a 'value added' atmosphere. Instead of spending hundreds -- if not thousands -- of dollars attempting to generate new customers, Austin's chose to lower prices and spend more money on restaurant guests who graciously support them on a regular basis.

Austin's mission is to attract guests through word-of-mouth and turn them into 'regulars' by recognizing them by name and learning their favorite beverages.

Austin's Steak and Seafood is conveniently located in Lakeland Plaza at Exit 14 West on Ga. 400 (or via Old Atlanta Hwy.) and offers all of your favorites from the affordable top sirloin to the ribeye. If seafood is your pleasure, salmon and tilapia are always available with shrimp dishes and the largest scallops you will ever see. 'Cajun Combo' and 'Pasta de Mer' feature mouth- watering chicken, shrimp and scallops over linguini.

Austin's has also created a $9.99 Top Sirloin dinner weekday special which includes salad and a side offered Sunday through Thursday. This dinner is normally $13.99... so it is quite a deal. Austin's recently introduced a low-carb, high protein grill menu starting at $6.99 which is offered all the time for guest desiring lighter fare at affordable prices.

Austin's has everything the chain restaurants have except for the long waits. As Clark Howard -- Atlanta's consumer guru -- says, " I wouldn't wait an hour for a table anywhere." Why would you? Austin's wait is very reasonable on the weekends because of the size of the restaurant and the fact many people still don't know it's there! Regular guest like to keep Austin's a secret because they are well known and are seated at their favorite table with their favorite server. So if you like chain restaurants but don't like the lengthy waits where you're treated like a number, try Austin's soon.

Serving you since 2001, Austin's affordable steaks and seafood are served in a warm and comfortable atmosphere, and hands-on ownership equals a family-style experience not often seen in the chain 'cookie cutters.'

Austin's policy is "YES". Yes to special food requests, yes to wine preferences, yes to substituting, yes to whatever the guest wants. So for lunch, dinner, sports and cocktails with friends, Sunday brunch or private party...Austin's has it all except the long lines.
