H.E.A.T. Organization Seeking Warm Wishes this Holiday Season for Georgians in Need
As the weather grows colder, most Georgians will want to turn up the heat this holiday season. Unfortunately, Georgia’s poverty rate reached its highest point since 1983 last year – which translated to 1.83 million Georgians in poverty, according to Census Bureau figures. Over the past few weeks, the Heating Energy Assistance Team (H.E.A.T.), Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization that provides energy assistance statewide to low-income Georgians, has seen the volume of calls double with Georgians asking for assistance. However, with Federal funds being cut in half and a decrease in public donations, many may be left out in the cold this winter...

Toys for Tots has an Urgent Need for Toys
Toys for Tots has an urgent need for toys.  They are handling toy requests from 1,450 different agencies this year.  Toy inventory dictates how many toys they can ultimately provide to agencies. At this point in the campaign, over 820,000 toys have been requested and their supply can’t meet this demand.  If they can’t increase their supply, they will not be able to service all agencies due to the toy shortage and will need to advise them to seek other avenues for fulfilling their toy needs...
