The North Georgia Barbershop Singers (NGBS) visited Forsyth County Senior Center at 595 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, GA to present the Director Shelley Johnson with a donation to be used for the Holiday Gift Certificate Program. According to the Home Delivered Meal Holiday Gift Certificate Program description, this donation will provide meals for more than one month for a Senior Citizen in Forsyth County.
The Board of Directors of NGBS at its monthly meeting, held at Dave Haas’ house in Cumming, GA, observed that the funding for meal programs has suffered budget cuts at the state and federal level. In accordance with the non-profit status of the organization under the umbrella of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the North Georgia Barbershop Singers makes significant donations to charities. Rich Pilch, Assistant Director of NGBS and member of the North Georgia Gentlemen quartet that entertained the seniors during this presentation, enthusiastically endorsed the Holiday Gift Cetificate Program in Forsyth County and said “the North Georgia Barbershop Singers will make additional contributions to other county Christmas senior food programs”. He said “our small donations will feed senior citizens healthful food for more than a month”. He continued, “that is a good thing”.
On December 5, the North Georgia Barbershop Singers will be entertaining the guests of five assisted living facilities in the Cumming area. This is an annual program of singing Christmas carols in the unique American a capella style to those who most need and enjoy this entertainment.
