NORTH FULTON, October 6 – On Saturday, October 4, more than 240 volunteers from Stonecreek Church in Milton, Georgia, collectively served more than 1,000 hours in a day the church called, “Grace To Go.” This church-organized event came at the close of Governor Purdue’s “Hands On Georgia Week,” a time when the Governor challenged citizens, businesses and community organizations to serve and enhance their communities.

Stonecreek’s Senior Pastor, Steven Gibbs, said, “With the recent economic turmoil and uncertainty, we have seen the needs of our community and the requests of community agencies grow rapidly. To us, ‘Grace To Go’ was one way we felt we could mobilize people to bring hope and support to as many organizations in the area as quickly as possible. Everyone has something he or she can do to extend grace to let someone else know their life matters.”

Throughout this Saturday of service, Stonecreek’s “Grace To Go” events extended far into communities and organizations across North Central Georgia. Volunteers parked cars and worked water stations at the second annual Trail Race for Camp Grace, a Vision Atlanta camp that offers at-risk children a Summer camp experience. Others decorated and delivered pumpkins to local nursing homes, while others painted houses with Habitat for Humanity of North Central Georgia. More volunteers re-landscaped Manning Oaks Elementary School and rebuilt much-needed facilities for Three Dimensional Life, a teen recovery program in Gainesville, Georgia.

Other projects included mobilizing 17 different neighborhoods to partner with North Fulton Community Charities, MUST Ministries of Cherokee County and The Place of Forsyth County. Collectively, over 1,200 food items and 250 winter coats helped to restock each agency’s shelves to meet the needs of people in the coming months.
