St. Brendan Catholic Church in Cumming, Georgia, was overflowing on Memorial Day, May 28, 2007, as 74 teens recieved one of the Church's sacraments of initiation, the Sacrament of Confirmation. Archbishop Wilton Gregory was the Presiding Celebrant along with The Reverend John T. Howren, Pastor of St. Brendan's Parish.

Teens worked hard to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation, having completed two years of faith formation classes, Mass participation (ushering, alter serving, greeting), retreats, community service projects (i.e. feeding the homeless), Parish Life events and Vacation Bible School, among many other activities.

Teens also participated in 'Cardboard Box City,' whereby they slept overnight in cardboard boxes in a retail shopping center, celebrated Mass at 10 p.m. in the parking lot and accepted food donations thoughout the night, which were sorted the following morning at St. Brendan by participating teens for donation to local pantries.

Kat Doyle, St. Brendan's Youth Minister, led faith formation classes and youth activities over the two-year period, well-preparing the 74 teens for Confirmation.

During the Confirmation Mass, Archbishop Gregory personalized the experience by asking each Confirmandi a specific question (i.e. why they chose their Confirmation name or their sponsor) as he annointed each with crism and completed the Confirmation ritual.

A reception for all was held immediately following Mass in the social hall of the Church.
