Northland Church Thrives on "Real. Simple." Ministry

As churches compete for members, worship services become more about displaying new technologies and growing membership rather than building personal and genuine relationships through Christ. Northland Church ’s motto is “Real. Simple. Church.” This simple statement of purpose suggests a return to the core purpose of any church, which is providing a place where people can develop personal connections with other believers, grow in their faith, and share their faith with others.

It seems that Northland Church ’s “Real. Simple.” approach struck a cord with the community as their congregation has grown from fifteen people to nearly two hundred since Pastor Michael Spivey and his wife, Jennifer, established the church four short years ago. In September 2006, the growing church purchased property in the Silver City community with plans to eventually establish a campus to house Northland Church ’s services, ministries, and more to meet the needs of their ever-growing congregation. Until the church develops its new campus, you can join Northland Church for their Sunday Celebration services at North Forsyth Middle School located at 3645 Coal Mountain Drive in Cumming.

As part of the “Real. Simple.” concept of ministry, Northland Church offers Life Groups that allow people with similar interests to develop relationships through Christ. Life Groups consists of small groups of people who are facing similar challenges or share similar interests and allows them to develop personal connections while growing their faith in God. The groups meet twice a month at various locations, such as restaurants or homes, and the groups change three times a year, allowing for variety in the topics discussed as well as the people you can meet.

Northland Church also offers an exciting and innovative curriculum for both kids and teens intended to enhance their spiritual development. KidZone’s philosophy reflects the overall motto of the church in its simplicity as KidZone endeavors to provide families with the ability to talk to children about their faith during the week and not just on Sundays. KidZone believes that the few hours spent learning about God through their fun and dynamic program can provide a foundation for the spiritual growth that occurs throughout the week.

Northland Church ’s Elevate Youth ministry provides spiritual guidance for students from the sixth to twelve grades. Elevate recognizes that teenagers face complicated and difficult challenges in today’s media driven society. By providing a forum where these teenagers can learn the skills they need to navigate these difficult issues and discuss their concerns, Elevate hopes to assist them in making positive life choices.
