Representatives from various faith traditions met at Cedar Hill Enrichment Center on Thursday, June 21 to discuss ways motivate faith communities in the region regarding issues such as climate change, recycling, and how to have a positive impact with education.

Katy Hinman, Executive Director and Jennifer Downs, Associate Director for Outreach with Georgia Interfaith Power and Light, facilitated the group to offer suggestions for building "Earth care" teams within North Georgia's faith communities. The group is also exploring ways to connect the faith communities to support and challenge one another while fostering the much needed conversations for change.

This is the second gathering of this group under the guidance of Georgia Interfaith Power and Light.  Announcements will be forthcoming about various workshops, lectures and educational sessions to be conducted by members of this initiative.

Georgia Interfaith Power and Light's mission is to engage communities of faith in stewardship of God's creation as a direct reflection of faithfulness through worship, education, and the sustainable generation and efficient use of energy.   Their website is www.gipl.org.   Cedar Hill Enrichment Center is the host for these North Georgia gatherings and as an interfaith center of spirituality, ecology and Earth education, will continue to offer programs designed to educate the community regarding the issues of climate change and the connection of Earth and spirit.   The website for Cedar Hill is www.cedarhillenrichment.org
