For the third consecutive year, Lei Lydle, a Georgia native and Founder of AtlantaBridal.com, is bringing the famous "Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns" to Atlanta on March 30th and 31st so hundreds of Georgia brides can find the designer wedding gown of their dreams while making wishes come true for terminal breast cancer patients and their families.
Brides Against Breast Cancer is the Making Memories Foundation's number one fund-raising event across the nation. This unique gown sale features over 1000 brand new, never worn, designer wedding gowns as well as hundreds of designer gowns that have only been worn once.
Between 1500 and 2000 of these gowns will arrive in Atlanta on March 29th and they will be scooped up by Atlanta brides quickly! The majority of the gowns valued at up to $4,000 range in price from $49 to $799. Wedding gowns that originally sold between $4,000 and $10,000 can be purchased from $399 to $999. "This is a very unique opportunity for brides-to-be to find one-of-a-kind gowns at fabulous prices and help grant a wish for a woman or man with terminal breast cancer."
In 2005, Atlanta's own Lei Lydle heard about the Making Memories Foundation and contacted the organization to bring this famous gown sale to Atlanta. "Both of my grandmothers had breast cancer so this is a cause that is near to my heart. When I first heard about this gown sale, I knew I wanted to be involved... This is the perfect way for me to give back to the community and help breast cancer patients because I am so heavily involved in the wedding industry. The time and effort involved in pulling this event together is well worth it when you see the ecstatic brides with their new gowns and hear the stories of the wishes you were able to grant to terminally ill breast cancer patients as a result of the sale…" Lydle says.
Although the Brides Against Breast Cancer Nationwide Tour of Gowns is still somewhat "new" to Atlanta, the Making Memories Foundation is no stranger to Georgia. In fact, the very first wish recipient from the Making Memories foundation was Nancy White-Kelly of Young Harris who asked to be reunited with her family before her death. And Atlanta has been good to the foundation. In the past two years, the efforts of Lei Lydle and her team of Atlanta volunteers, many of whom are Atlanta wedding industry professionals, has resulted in over $57,000 in cash and over 600 locally donated gowns for the charity.
"We hope to raise over $40,000 at the 2007 gown sale in Atlanta. We definitely have the gown selection to do it - we just need the brides!
I have been to the other famous wedding gown sales and I can say with confidence that our sale is better. It is less hectic, well organized and we have a better selection of gowns... plus we have a dressing room so the ladies don't have to strip down in the aisles like they do at other sales. And, most importantly, our sale benefits a wonderful cause." Lydle says.
Over 6000 Georgians are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and approximately 1000 of those patients will be terminal. The Making Memories Foundation grants dying wishes to terminally ill breast cancer patients in a variety of ways including family vacations, family reunions, gifts of video cameras, meetings with famous people and more. Any Georgian with terminal breast cancer can apply for a wish by visiting www.MakingMemories.org.
The Atlanta Brides Against Breast Cancer Wedding Gown sale will be held at Lambert Place, located at 800 Lambert Drive, Suite H, Atlanta, Georgia on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, 2007. Doors will be open from 10am - 8pm on Friday and 10am - 6pm on Saturday.

More About Breast Cancer
Many people know that breast cancer is the second highest killer of women in the United States, but it is a little known fact that it is the number one cancer killer of women between the ages of 15 and 54.
Currently, there are 2.8 million women in America diagnosed with breast cancer and a percentage of these will be terminal. The human toll of these statistics is staggering. Small children are left without their mothers and husbands are left to raise families on their own. It is truly heartbreaking.

My wife Sue is dying from Breast Cancer, and (its a long story) lives in South Dakota. Our daughter will marry in Albany, GA this September. The only way Sue could attend is if we rented an RV to drive here. Can you help us, please?
