Blessed Be the Tie that Binds: Hospice Blanket Group Now Forming

For the past several years, a "One Great Day of Service" project has been making fleece blankets for newly admitted hospice patients. Carol Jewell of Hospice of NE Georgia Medical Center says the blankets are always in demand, and that there are seldom enough for each patient to receive one.

The OGDS team has decided to turn their annual commitment into a year round effort, meeting the 4th Saturday of every month from 9:00 until 12:00. “The Happy Knotters” next meeting will be May 24, in Room 109 at Cumming First United Methodist Church. Anyone who is interested in good fellowship, a lot of laughter, and a worthy cause is invited to join us. There is no sewing experience necessary!

Perhaps you would consider joining our “Blanket of the Month” club by donating the funds for a blanket. $96.00 will provide material for one blanket a month for the remainder of 2008. Any portion of that will be gratefully received, and it will help someone facing the realities of hospice care feel a touch of warmth.

Please call me for more information, to join the group or to contribute to this worthy project. Rev. Kathie Stasko, 770-887-2900, ext. 224, or kstasko@cfumcga.com.
