Caring for the Kidz

Free workshops for parents and caregivers is just one way Kidz Therapy Networks helps care for special needs children...

In a perfect world, no child would need occupational, speech or physical therapy. In the real world, thank goodness for Kidz Therapy Networks, Inc. The clinic, located in Cumming, provides treatment for special needs children from birth to age 21. Their focus is encouraging successful development of the child by providing individualized sessions in which children work one-on-one with an advanced certified therapist, and their results are astounding. In one particular positive case, a non-verbal child began speaking after 3 months of treatment.

At Kidz Therapy Networks, Inc., parental involvement is strongly encouraged, as it correlates with more advanced progress. In fact, it was the close relationships between parents and therapists that alerted the staff to the need for specific workshops for parents and caregivers of special needs children. “A lot of parents feel overwhelmed, like they’re alone in this world, but there are so many people in the same boat,” said Clinical Director Harry Panagopoulos.

Kidz Therapy’s free workshops take place on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and offer programs that give parents information to help them cope, such as the reasons for certain behaviors in children with a particular diagnosis, or the difference between public and private therapy. But most of all, the workshops serve as a support group for parents who don’t know where else to turn. “We’re creating an environment where everyone understands,” said occupational therapist Jill Feldman.

Kidz Therapy treats children with diagnoses such as autism, Down syndrome, neurological problems, developmental delays, speech and language disorders, coordination difficulties, cerebral palsy, ADD and hypotonia. For more information visit www.kidztherapyinc.com or call (770) 205-5551.
