Meet The Keeper
Every Tuesday and Saturday in November at 12:00 PM. Join our wildlife staff and volunteers to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to keep our animals happy and healthy while in captivity; including our birds, mammal and reptiles. Painting Nature in Watercolor

Join professional painter and local teaching artist, Maureen Engle for a workshop in watercolor with nature themes. Painting will take place outside, weather permitting. Chattahoochee River Canoe Discovery Trip
Sunday, November 2 at 9:00 AM-4:00 PM
$60 non-members/$50 members (Fee includes canoe, paddles and life vest)
Join CNC volunteer naturalist, Jerry Hightower for an interpretative canoe paddle from Jones Bridge to Island Ford (9.0 river miles). Good for beginners, intermediate and advanced paddlers. This trip is not suitable for those who have never canoed on a river before. CNC offers guided trips to gain experience. We will caravan from CNC. Bring water and a pack lunch. Snacks will be provided. Day Hike
Saturday, November 8 at 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Enjoy a day- hiking adventure to the headwaters of the Chattahoochee River with a CNC interpretative naturalist and High Country Outfitters guide. We’ll begin at Brasstown Bald and continue into the MarkTrail Wilderness, and onto the Appalachian Trail. This is a moderate hike with some off-trail walking. We will caravan from CNC. An Introduction to Birding

If you are just getting started in birding and want to learn more, this workshop is for you! This class includes learning bird identification techniques, developing good habits in the field, and recognizing birds by sound. The instructor, Georgann Schmalz , was the ornithologist at Fernbank for over 25 years and is also responsible for overseeing Atlanta Audubon Society’s Master Birder program. All participants will also receive a free copy of the new four-set CD series, “Bird Songs of Georgia, An Audio Guide to Recognizing and Learning Georgia’s Birds.” To register,  contact Sally Davis at 770-913-0511.
